Rostov NPP upgrades its physical protection system by installing the intelligent biometric identification system at the access control points. New digital system will work with a three-dimensional model of a person's face, while old identification system worked with two-dimensional images. When employees pass through turnstiles, the system will make an accurate comparison of the image of a person's face simultaneously with several images stored in the database.
"The physical protection of NPP is aimed at preventing the entering of unauthorized persons to the site's facilities, ensuring a reliable barrier to any unlawful attacks and unauthorized actions. New digital system is implemented at Rostov NPP in accordance with federal norms and rules for the nuclear energy use. Currently, we are working on the system database. Access control will be even more effective", - commented Vladimir Fomenko, Deputy Director for Physical Protection of Rostov NPP.
