Rostechnadzor, Russian regulator of nuclear safety and security at civil nuclear sites, partially suspends oversight at sites, including nuclear security oversight, until May 1, 2020, due to the COVID-19 crisis. The decision was made in accordance with the instructions of Mikhail Mishustin, Prime Minister of the Russian Federation.
As an exception, Rostechnadzor may conduct the unscheduled inspections in cases of harming the life and health of citizens and/or natural and man-made emergency situations. Rostechnadzor may also conduct licensing inspections.
Russian Parliament is currently finalizing Federal Law that will address licensing and oversight, including nuclear, during COVID-19 crisis. Russian Nuclear Security Update will provide details on this Law after its enactment.
